Original XBOX Limited Edition Consoles

Here are some of the Limited Edition consoles Microsoft made for the Original XBOX. Click on each picture to see a larger version.

This console was given to the Microsoft Development Team that helped build the original XBOX.
It has a signed engraving on the jewel on top of the console.

This is a Debug console given to developers and game publishers

This is a see thru Crystal Console that was distributed in Europe

This is the rather common Halo 2 console. It was distributed world wide

This console was part of a promotion with Mountain Dew. As most of you know, this relationship continues to this day as there have been numerous other promotions tied to Mountain Dew.

This console was part of a Japanese game tie-in for Dead or Alive Ultimate. The console came with the game, a limited edition figurine, and an *ahem* inflatable body pillow with a picture of Katsumi!

This console was part of a Japanese game tie-in for Panzer Dragoon Oorta. It also came with the game.

This console was a Japanese 2004 Anniversary Console.

This Special Edition console was given to Electronic Arts to celebrate their support of the nascent XBOX Live service.

This This console was part of a Movie Tie-In promotion with Pepsi. I don't actually own this one. It was on auction in the UK and the seller wouldn't ship to the U.S. If anyone has one of these and wants to sell or trade, please leave a comment.

Limited Edition XBOX Consoles

Microsoft does a terrible job of marketing Xbox consoles to collectors. Maybe they think there is no market for people who would want multiple consoles just to collect. I have to disagree. I know of many people who have everyon varietly of IPOD that Apple has created. Nintendo is also good about creating variations of their hand helds. This helps boost their market penetration numbers and helps show game publishers that their brand is the brand consumers use the most.

You may not know it, but Microsoft has been quietly creating special limited edition Xbox consoles for years.

In the next couple of posts, I will share pictures of my collection of Original Xbox and Xbox 360 cosnoles.

In the beginning

Every tale has a beginning and mine is no different. I've been an obsessive compulsive collector all my life. When I was a kid, it was postage stamps and coins. I grew up in Iran and never had much to play with as a kid. I don't remember much from that time but I do remember having a bunch of cut outs of Star Trek characters. These were my action figures.
My parents got divorced when I was 4 and my mother moved to the US. Her letters to me were how I started collecting postage stamps.
As I grew, my collections and their values increased.
In this blog, I plan on sharing pictures and my thoughts on the vast array of things I've collected.
